Detailed review for the Nokia Lumia 900

The Good: the eye-popping Lumia Nokia 900 is a unibody design sets a new direction for the style smartphone. LTE speeds, live 4.3-inch screen, and 8-megapixel camera is a high point.

The bad: The problem with call quality and design flaws as small as a few gaps in the construction and the odd-placed to get in the way. Optical designer a good camera, but they did not live up to the hype. Mobile video shoots 720p rather than 1080p video.

The bottom line: Nokia's unique design Lumia 900 and high-end features make Windows Phone looks fantastic, and the price is very reasonable $ 99. Despite some shortcomings, this is my favorite Windows Phone yet.

Nokia really need a "hero" smartphone with a performance, speed, specifications, and pricing that will silence the doubters. By Lumia 900, Nokia proves that he has the chops to compete. We think so at CES, where we are given the best new smartphone, and I think now.
But it is a breakthrough device 900 Lumia? Features a high threshold for Windows Phone that (the OS does not support multicore processors), but the phone does not have features such as halo-making PureView Nokia with a gasp-inducing 41-megapixel camera. While the revolutionary new features that Nokia can win, what has been present in Lumia 900 is the best Windows phones have not been tested, and it is perfect for the mainstream market. Of course, my judgment can always be changed in a week when the HTC Titan II launch, with a whopping 16-megapixel camera, though for me, Lumia 900 is advanced in style points. It's also half the price: $ 99.99 versus $ 199.99.

Outside appearance, I would recommend Lumia 900 without hesitation to anyone considering Windows Phone - although I'm psychologically unable to leave an important warning. I like the bold look of the Lumia 900 and how that style of phone and make a pop screen interface of Windows Phone. With Windows Phone is almost identical on all handsets, Nokia is really only have the hardware to control, and in terms of specs, did a great job (mostly). LTE ... examined. The quality of powerful camera, check. A fast processor, solid construction, check and check. There are still some changes I would make if Nokia has asked my opinion, including the placement of some buttons, quality control when it comes to the call and on a few external components, and video HD 1080p than 720p. However, there is no shortage of would keep me from using the 900.

Design

If you imagine the phone from the store, run by Scandinavian design funky avant-garde youth, the Lumia 900 will fit right in. Its sculpted lightweight unibody chassis and deliberate use of color scream "lifestyle products." Bold as an exclamation mark, the Lumia 900 has a pure pop-art electricity flowing through blood vessels.

What makes Lumia so eye-catching Nokia 900? Even without the version that I have an electric blue, bright white color that arrived on 22 April or black color is more understated, a prominent profile 900. This chassis has a perfectly flat top and bottom, with rounded sides and back slightly arched, the Nokia then topped with a glossy big screen.

And 5 inches tall by 2.7 inches wide by 0.45 inches deep, this is a great phone. Finish, smooth matte finish helps it slide into pockets and purses, but Because of the width and the back flat, Lumia 900 did feel a bit flat in my hand. However, it is comfortably in the ear. It may feel a bit heavy and 5.6 ounces, but it's also very solid. I'm a little worried about the long-term effects of oil residue on fingers and color, but in the short term, the remaining survivors completed my hand lotion and direct application of the goo-go solution without the mating colors.

Back in its heyday, most of Nokia mobile phone is identical to building a strong and wise - designs - and sometimes daring. The Lumia 900 may not present the design of new tight, because this is clearly adapted from the Nokia N9 Meego based phone released in Asia, and Lumia 800, the European version of the N9 which runs Windows Phone, but a good one that offers little variety.

For example, Lumia 900 greater than 800 and features a front-facing camera in addition to that all-important LTE and a larger battery. Then there are smaller variations of the surface, you'll only really see the hand holding the two phones side by side. At 800, the bubble screen out approximately 2.5 millimeters, such as the curved surface tension of a drop of water. Screen 900, on the other hand, more like a slap-on postage. My review unit has a few cracks are barely visible, but there nonetheless. The most obvious big enough for me to stick my nails into the space around the SIM card slot, and pull up a corner of a locked door - which is sloppy. There is also a thin slit on the right side of the screen where the body meets my review unit, without any gaps on the left side of the screen.

I have no complaints with the display itself, though, and it's easily one of the key points of sale Lumia 900. The 4.3-inch screen features a beautiful AMOLED screen ClearBlack technology and Gorilla Glass. Colors look rich colors, bright, and sharp. I compare with the Samsung Focus Lumia 900 S, which has an identical screen size and resolution of WVGA (800x480 pixels). In both brightness and richness, the Lumia 900 completely blows away the Focus S, which at that time I have called the Super beautiful AMOLED screen plus in itself. At the same level of full brightness and automatic, Lumia 900 shines a light on the full extent of the Focus S.

I also compared the high-res images on two handsets. While they both look great, the Lumia 900 shows the contrast looks great, with blacker blacks, more color variations of the spectrum, and the green so bright they seem a bit unnatural.

Outside the screen, there are front facing camera and three touch-sensitive navigation controls on the phone. Sense of chic minimalism nokia covers the silver in the right spine. From top to bottom, you will see the volume rocker, power button and camera shutter button. I prefer a different placement for the power button and the amount of rocker, but I got used to it. Top of the phone to place the port: 3.5mm headset jack, Micro-USB charging port, and micro SIM card slot behind the press at the door. Like the iPhone, you can enter the narrow "keys" (or thin, unbent paper clip) into the holes pop small SIM. Nokia please tape the main right in the box, saving you from mangling of paper clips.

Thanks to unibody construction, smooth back of the phone, without all of the opening. However, there are 8-megapixel camera lens and dual-LED flash.

Operating system and Nokia

Thanks to close partnership between Nokia and Microsoft, Lumia 900 carry the latest iteration of Windows Mobile OS, version 7.5 Mango. As a result, Lumia 900 may perform all other duties of the Windows Mobile software to do well.

Unlike Android, Microsoft OS keep a pretty locked down, so Nokia has little room to add their own talent in the software, I appreciate the strategy to consolidate the mobile experience across devices, but that makes it difficult for manufacturers to stand out. Still, Nokia does not make his mark with Blue Nokia nice color theme (it Lumia default 900) and the application suite that includes Nokia Marketplace Drive, Nokia Maps, Nokia Transit, and Nokia Contact Transfer. This section also displays third-party partners, such as ESPN and CNN. It's a shame that Lumia 900 does not have Nokia music app, Music Radio Mix, such as Europe, and I hope the right offer be signed very soon. APP is present, the present and create a mixture of radio streaming, are similar to Windows Mobile, but it is also an alternative that could give Nokia some additional Cred.

characteristics

Since Windows OS phone behaves pretty much the same on every mobile phone, it is extra important. LTE is the most important features of Nokia needed to sell this phone in our country, and it will be one of the first two Windows phones with LTE. (HTC Titan II, which is sold on the same day, others.)

Wi-Fi, GPS, and Bluetooth is standard, although sad, Lumia 900 ships with Bluetooth 2.1, can be considered an antique compared to the new Bluetooth 4.0 standard we started to see the mobile device.

Windows Mobile OS with easy set up e-mail and social network integration via log in the account settings, the option to connect inboxes together, and support for group messaging. There is also threaded text and multimedia messaging, and the characteristics of the cold Can weave together a message that is sent between the IM and the traditional text. Task-switching, voice search, and scan the search with Bing also included, as conference calling and voice dialing.

In terms of application, you will find basic clock, calendar, calculator, Internet Explorer 9 (with support for HTML5 but no Flash), and subscription to a podcast in the Music Video + hub. There is also a Maps app, with instructions to walk and drive-by-turn beyond, Microsoft offers Xbox Live integration via the hub, Games, FM radio, and other features that create a mix of SmartDJ your collection. When it came time to get to work, you can create and view Microsoft Office applications from various sources.

I have mentioned above the contribution of Nokia apps, but AT & T also preloads several programs. There is a common bond carrier: a barcode and QR code scanner; AT & T Navigator with turn-by-the next instruction; AT & T Radio and AT & T U-verse Mobile, (the mobile version of the U-TV verse to show the flow; it costs $ 9.99 per month if you create a new account from the phone). For video chat, Lumia 900 gives you a Tango video chatting app, and YP Mobile for yellow pages. For everything else, there is a market.

Cameras

Nokia is proud that the 8-megapixel camera at the Lumia has a Carl Zeiss optics 900, which, together with dual-LED flash and autofocus, aims to improve image clarity. It took me about a hundred pictures at 900, outside in bright daylight, in the artificial lights, front side up and in low light conditions. As with all smartphone cameras I've tested, Lumia 900 has done well in outdoor shots with abundant natural light. Also, as I tested the camera phone, running a gamut of excellent pictures and very sharp little vague and disappointing.
